1379 Balaclava: Gentlemen's Battle, by John Selby (4 Jan 1976) This is an account of the Crimean War, drawn from published sources. Not at all scholarly, it reads easily and gives one a good idea of what it was like from the viewpoint of participants. Alma was fought in Sept 1854, and was followed by the Flank March to Balaclava, then the battle of Balaclava on Oct 25, 1854. Inkerman followed on 5 Nov 1854. The battle of Tchernaya resulted in British defeat but the French objective was achieved, and the war ended. Peace was declared 30 Mar 1856. A crazy war.… (plus d'informations)
