Dennis T. Patrick Sears (1925–1976)

This was Sears' first novel, published in 1976, the year he died. In 1931 when Danny Mulcahy was fifteen both his parents were killed and he was left to fend for himself. With no other relatives in Alberta, he set out for his uncle's home in Ontario. He found an eccentric, who was educated, understanding and could be fierce. Sears' relates the story of Danny's coming-of-age. The writing is at times coarse, shows the author's inexperience, yet can be quite tender.
