How do you respond when a child asks: "Can a girl turn into a boy?"
What if your daughter brings home schoolbooks with sexist, racist stories?

What does "queering the curriculum" really mean? What does it look like?

What's wrong with "anti-bullying"policies?
Rethinking Sexism, Gender, and Sexuality is filled with inspiring, from-the-ground stories about practical ways to include LGBTQ content in curriculum, make it a part of an approach to social justice, and create classrooms and schools that nurture all children and their families.

An excellent collection of essays regarding multicultural education. Despite thinking myself quite open-minded this book opened my eyes to many cultural practices (or omissions) that I'd never considered . Plus it has an essay that delineates why the popular 90s video game Oregon Trail is racist, sexist, and anti-environment, which in itself made the book worth it.

Undertandably biased view about the attept to recognize Ebonics as a separate language which should not only be accepterd by schools, but should be a medium of instruction. I happen not to agree with either assumption, but this well-written book certainly makes powerful arguments for its view.
