Ian and Jarryd return for another adventure after the conclusion of The Crown of Stones trilogy. After the events of the trilogy, we get to see more of them and the world the author has created. Magic, adventure, and incredible trials await them in this standalone novella. Though I've read the trilogy, by the way this novella was written, anyone would feel comfortable reading this book before the others if they were so inclined. Though short, the book was well-written and paced, delivering a clear, fantastical insight into the world of the Crown of Stones.… (plus d'informations)

With the fate of everything hanging over Ian Troy, the question soon becomes 'How much will this cost our hero in the end?' This story delivered on the promise of a brilliant ending and more! Though I'm feeling a little emotionally wrung out after getting past the last few pages of this conclusion to the series, I have a sense of contentment at it all concluding as well. This third book pulled me through so many emotions that I find myself still reflecting on certain scenes despite a few days passing since I read the last page. The author has this way of making you both hate and empathetically understand the villains, a superpower in this series that I noted along with the depth of the characters. I generally don't read epics and steer toward more urban fantasy books, but I just couldn't resist this story after the first page of book one and can't feel even the slightest hint of regret.… (plus d'informations)

Following the capture of Troy by King Draken, two years of captivity have passed since we left off from book one. Of course, just like in the first book, darkness, and pain haunt Troy, but things are different now, even as he struggles to recall his time in prison and the things he was forced to do. Coming back from the fuzziness of the drugged state he'd been kept in, Troy is rescued and set on a path to what I'm starting to see as his ultimate destiny. The complex history of the book is brought further out of the shadows in this sequel and we get a glimpse of what I'm sure is going to be an even thicker-woven web in the third book. I can't wait to find out how the story ends, though, knowing the author by their other works, I know I'm not going to be disappointed!… (plus d'informations)

This book takes us on an incredible journey into a world ravaged by prejudice and war that's centered on a soldier with incredible power. Following an unexpected loss, Troy is retired from fighting and has been living the life of a bounty hunter for the crown he's sworn to protect. Soon enough, he's dragged from the life he had been living and thrown back into the thrall of his duty. I love how complex the story is, diving into so much history that the world and characters feel incredibly real - despite the fantastical setting. This book was full of twists and turns that I couldn't see coming in my wildest daydreams and honestly can't wait to read the next book!… (plus d'informations)
