Courte biographie
After working for various architecture firms in the U.S., Daniel traveled to Tokyo, Japan where he now works as an English teacher and an author/illustrator. And just like his character, Mr. Elephant, Daniel sometimes feels a bit clumsy and big and forgetful. . . Fortunately, he always feels at home with his wife and two young children. His second book, Come Back Soon-ISBN: 0618694943 was just published Sept. 2009.

Schallau specializes in intricately drawn color pencil ink pen illustrations of worlds inhabited by elephants, penguins, whales, bears, snowmen, rabbits, and more.

Daniel Schallau says he enjoys being an :imaginary architect' and builds fantastic cities and buildings for animals to live in. He has accomplished this task with the wonderfully whimsical landscapes and buildings he's illustrated for us on Penguin Island. I feel lucky to have stumbled upon this book at my local library, and highly recommend it to all builders of excellent picture book collections.… (plus d'informations)
