I received a copy of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley.

This was a page turner to read, although it morphed somewhat from a police procedural to a thriller with two of the detectives going rogue and coming a-cropper. I guessed the identity of the arsonist a little before the reveal, but as ever I'm not sure if that is because of my superior detective skills or the author's careful seeding of clues. Not everything about the plot was totally convincing (were the culprit's fires really so distinctively different from other arsons, for example? Emily could have helped herself if she'd changed her phone number earlier and not moved to an isolated house) but I was very happy with the resolution of the Robin/Freya/Josh/Jo love rectangle.

I have read all four instalments of this series this week, which is perhaps why the will they/won't they relationship between Robin and Freya is beginning to wear on me. It might be a bit more of a contest if the author had given Josh a personality. As it is, Freya keeps saying how she loves him and it seems to be because he is so cheerful...

As to the mystery bit of this instalment, it was excellent. It had plenty of twists and turns and kept me guessing.
