In the spring they will get to visit their friends on the Texas mainland where, for the first time, she sees miles of Texas bluebonnets brightening the earth of the mainland. Charmingly illustrated in Color & b/w by the noted children's book illustrator, Helen Sewell. The author, Frances Clarke Sayers was born in 1897 in Topeka, Kansas. I had this book as a child in the 50's-60's and lost it somewhere on life's journey. I found another copy of it at a friend's garage sale in the early 80's and bought it immediately. In the days before cable, video games, and graphic novels, I spent hours and hours reading and rereading the stories and getting lost in the pictures. A great book!

This is an old edition, but it gives a great place to start looking for quality children's literature from years ago. It is also a good resource for the storyteller.
