Summary: Mariah Cary is mixed race so not everybody treated her right. Her parents divorced when Mariah was young, splitting up her, her brother and sister. She learned music at an early age. She created a demo tape when she was 16 and moved to Manhattan. Her first album went platinum. Everybody thought her voice was amazing. Her career climbed and she became an actress in 1999. In 2008, she married Nick Cannon.

My Response: I never knew so much about Mariah Carey before until I read this. I never knew her struggle with everything. I never thought about the struggle with mixed with her until I read this story. She is a very strong woman.

Cursory biography of teen-lit powerhouse. Most of the information is cobbled together from various interviews (all source notes provided in the back). Lots of pictures fill out the just-over-a-hundred-pages, making this a good choice for the biography book reports.
