"Regret" by Charity Santiago - I purchased this book after being notified by the author it was available.

The Lady of Toryn series continues on in this, the second book of the series. Ashlyn returns as the heir of Toryn who is torn between being independent and on her own versus the responsibilities that go with being a leader of country. At the start of the story, we find it has been eight years since the end of the last book, and though Ashlyn had resolved some personal conflicts, more were sure to a come about as she prepares to go head-to-head with her Father, who has supposedly gone mad using the magic of the shift stane, and is leading an opposition to the FLD.

Without throwing any spoilers out, the book was a nice read in continuing the story. I liked how the author was able to move the story along, building up a bit more of the characters, without losing the reader's interest. I am anxious to find out how the story will possibly end (or maybe continue?) in the next book, which may be out within the next few months (from word of mouth).

The only negative aspect of the story I am not fond of, is the use of a 'triangle love affair'. I am more of an action-oriented reader, so the story sort of lost a bit when going into the "emotional" part of the story, though, it does help build and explain the character growth.

Overall, it is a great read for the Young Adult crowd, and even adults.

What a great start to a trilogy (or more)! Though it is introduced as first in a series (I dislike having to wait for the additional books)the setting for the whole series is laid out well. A wide range of characters, and plenty of story going on, made it hard to put down. I am currently in the process of re-reading it again, not only to refresh the story-line (the second book is possibly due out soon) but to enjoy the beginnings of what is turning into a nice tale told by a newer writer. Overall it is a great read, and I anxiously await the next two books in the series!

'Redemption' is the third and final installment in the 'Lady of Toryn' trilogy by Charity Santiago.

I had anxiously awaited this final book to see how the story ended! 'Redemption' takes place right after 'Regret' and continues the story of Ashlyn, the soon to be Lady of Toryn, as she deals with the loss of her father, the battle for the rightful ruler of her country (Toryn) that she is to assume. As these problems occur, the ongoing relationship issues Ashlyn has between Drake and Vargo get more emotionally involved. Without giving away any spoilers, Charity has brought her story to a nice conclusion, but yet leaves room in the imagination for the story to continue in the form of additional stories, or offshoot stories from this line.

Though as I have stated before, I am not much into the romance genre, I began reading this series at the askance of a friend, whom is a relative of the author. I have and will not receive any compensation for my reviews. I did enjoy the series ( as it is listed YA/Fantasy/Paranormal/Romance) and would read more by this author if it were more of the action/thriller variety. I would like to see perhaps some novellas or stories about other characters/events from Kresmir, more so if the romance angle wasn't a factor.

I picked this e-book up since I know the author, and had read some of her other works. I was a bit leery, as the author tends towards romance writing. I had read some things about the book, that it was a more humor/romance if anything (or at least that is how I viewed it) so I decided that I had better read it.

The cover of the book is worth snickering over, especially once you have read the story. The comic book look is nothing how the story goes, but I admit, it does sort of catch the eye. That being said, I was into the story within a few pages of starting the book. Having veered quite a bit from her previous series (LADY OF TORYN), this delves into the paranormal/urban fantasy, with a vampire pandemic striking the United States. At the time of the attack, her husband and stepchildren, are across the country and looking like they won't be back. Kennedy, our main character, is basically on her own to survive not being killed, or even worse, turned into a vampire.

I don't know if the story line ideas were all one author, and the other helped piece it together, but the teamwork really made this novel. I found myself snickering at times to events occurring, and other times wondering where some dialogue was going, only to find out later in the story. The romance factor was pretty low. No sex scenes (thank goodness!) and seemingly more wishful thinking, and steamy, eye staring then anything else. There were a few kisses. I was a bit surprised I enjoyed the book as much as I did. Would certainly pick up the next book in the series, if they decide to do another.
