An incredibly unsatisfying end to an atmospheric yet ultimately boring/directionless trilogy.

This book would have been so much better without the magic! I know the magic theme was intended as a metaphor for adolescent femininity and suchlike - but the book would have felt so much more solid and subtle without it! Language that had felt poetic and literary only paragraphs before became unwieldy and naive in the service of a plotline that was about on the level of an ad for the Mind Body Spirit festival. And I think the 'finding her estranged father whilst dealing with boy problems' narrative was meaty enough alone - in fact, severely weakened by the awkwardly handled addition of 'teenage girl discovers her inherent magical mysterious powers' plot.
Pretty well written; some very decently realised characters, all of whom could have been better utilised; all in all, not bad.

The conclusion to the Undine series. Drift apparently is only available here in audiobook form, but it's a wonderful reading/performance by Melissa Eccleston. One of the best audiobook performances I've heard, actually.

I loved this series SO MUCH. The world-building is fascinating, the family story had me completely invested, and I cared about all the characters -- all of whom had flaws.

I want to go to Tasmania now!

Strange story of a young woman who suddenly starts to hear her father calling her to come home. She never seemed to miss her father before and now she is driven to find him. She learns that she can create a storm, she turns away from her best friend and seduces his brother and then is drawn to the brother’s friend. Her life and emotions and skills are out of control. Intriguing story line.
