William Penny was hired by Lady Franklin to attempt a rescue of her husband Sir John Franklin who had vanished in a quest for the Northwest Passage. Penny was a whaling captain who had overwintered in the Arctic so it was hoped his profound knowledge would find success where the Royal Navy, and others had failed. This remarkable book is the story of that expedition. As much as I liked this book, it would have been so much improved by a least a few better maps. I found myself searching out the areas in the book on Google Earth. An engaging read.… (plus d'informations)
