First things first: Check out that cover. I've picked up Gord Rollo's books since Leisure sent me the paperback of Jigsaw Man, so buying this one was a no brainer. But I would have bought it anyway, based on the cool cover design. Good job.

The opening sequence of this book, with Miguel using his boat to haul some mafia scum out to sea to chuck a cinderblock laden body overseas is terrific, well written and suspenseful. Gord included enough detail to show he knew what he was writing about.

The rest of the book isn't quite as tightly written. It's still enjoyable. But I wasn't surprised to read in the afterword that Gord had the opening scenes tucked away for years.

Even though it was SO cheesy, I'm still giving it 3 🌟. Reviewers I saw complained about this and that, ie lousy character development, unrealistic timeline, etc. But the storyline, though gory as heck, was pretty entertaining. I mean, who doesn't like a Frankenstein story? Besides, there's a darn good moral to the story: don't sell your soul for MONEY!

Interesting characters and situations and a well written novella by a veteran author. My complaint is that it felt like a preface to a longer book. I would be very interested in reading "the rest of the story" since this seems to stop right when the action gets interesting and leaves nothing resolved.

Slammed through this novel, simply couldn't put it down! Highly disturbing!
OK Just a tad predictable, but that is ok, I didn't expect any real surprises. I enjoyed the characters, no matter if they were cruel!
This made me squirm, and feel nauseous and terrified.
Couldn't have chosen a better novel to start the fall season with. I recommend to all horror lovers, especially` ones who enjoy anything in the genre of medical settings.
