Anne Rockwell was born in Memphis, Tennessee on February 8, 1934. She moved to New York City at the age of 18 and found a job doing typing work for a textbook publisher. She studied at Pratt Graphic Arts Center and at the Sculpture Center. She became an author and illustrator. Her first children's afficher plus book, Paul and Arthur Search for the Egg, was published in 1964. Her other books included Boats, Fire Engines, Things That Go, Our Earth, and Only Passing Through: The Story of Sojourner Truth. She collaborated on several books with her husband Harlow Rockwell including Sally's Caterpillar and The Toolbox. After her husband's death, she collaborated with her daughter Lizzy Rockwell. Their books included Career Day and Zoo Day. She died of natural causes on April 10, 2018 at the age of 85. (Bowker Author Biography) afficher moins

Father's Day: A Father's Day Gift Book… par Anne Rockwell

Book for primary. This is a sweet book on a class writing about all the different types of fathers, and how much they love their fathers. Some issues with using this book in a classroom: not all kids have dads who are in their lives. Not all kids have great relationships with their dads like in this book.

Library Day (A My First Experience Book) par Anne Rockwell

This book does a really nice job of capturing the feeling of being a little kid and exploring and finding out what the library is like! I thought it was very affectionately crafted! :)

Gypsy Girl's Best Shoes par Anne Rockwell

One of those old children's book that I assume would not get made today. It's so loaded with stereotypes the mother of the title character actually walks around carrying a crystal ball.

And if you disregard all the offensive stuff, the story is extremely slight. A little girl is so happy that her father found her some new red patent-leather shoes that she wanders around her new neighborhood in a big city asking people if they will watch her dance in them. Most of the folks are too busy, but she keeps trying until she can't contain the dance anymore.… (plus d'informations)
