I actually enjoyed the story and illustrations so much I bought a physical copy of the book! Anyone who wants a laugh should definitely read this book, no matter how old they are.

Received for a fair and honest review

Art for Kids-Cartooning: The only book you’ll ever need to be the artist you’ve always wanted to be by Art Roche is a great how to book for kids nine to 11 years old. The author is a professional cartoonist and encourages children by allowing them freedom to experiment with their own styles as budding artists. The book features colored illustrations along with the directions and steps of how to draw cartoon figures. There is a good balance between written instruction and detailed step-by-step drawings of progressions of characters. The author encourages artists to develop their own style, not just trace or try to reproduce his style. Each page is full of large, detailed colorful examples and progressions. There is a glossary that helps readers unfamiliar art terms, tools, etc.… (plus d'informations)

This is a very comprehensive how-to book on cartooning. Although geared for children, I think adults interested in cartooning will find it useful as well. While text-heavier than many other how-to drawing books for kids that I've seen, it is possible to use this book reading as much or as little as you like. However, the text is engaging for younger kids. "Bunny Guy" is your teacher, walking you through the steps of cartooning.
The book begins with an introduction to cartooning, talking about what cartoons are, how and where they're used, and their relation to doodling. The next chapter talks about the tools and materials needed for cartooning. Chapters three and four provide instruction and practice in drawing faces and bodies, while chapters five and six do the same for "stuff" and animals. The chapters that truly separate this how-to drawing book from others I have seen are the chapters on writing jokes, putting text with the cartoon and how to get your cartoons published.
The text instructions as well as the illustrated instructions and examples are easy to follow. The table of contents and large headings make the book easy to navigate. This is a great tool for new and experienced artists alike. Most appropriate for grades three and up.

If there is a title that keeps people from buying a book, this is the one. Yes, kids will be able to use and enjoy this book, but a beginner of any age can make use of this book.

I bought many other cartooning books before I bought this one because being for kids, I thought it would be over simplified. But I think Roche's book is the best one that I have! I have learned a lot from the others. But I used the pick and pull method - some from this book and some from that book. I believe that this book goes through the fundamentals the best, giving the beginning cartoonist a good foundation to begin building on with the other books.… (plus d'informations)
