Junior Classics for Young Readers: The Adventures… par Mark Twain
Tom Sawyer is a sure-'nuff rascal who gets into trouble and wriggles out again. He's the all-American kid-part pirate, part hero, part treasure seeker, part prankster-and all boy. W. R. Robinson's Oliver Twist is an adaptations of the original Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. This junior version is still a chapter book, but has been editied to be more enjoyable and easier to read for the younger generation. The story is the same as the classic, a young orphan boy leads a life of misery until he is taken in by a loving family who in the end reveal Oliver's true identity. The story is a bit violent for really young ones, but would certainly keep young adults interested. This is the junior/adapted version of this classic novel. Oliver Twist is a small boy from the mid 1800's. His mother dies in childbirth, and his father is nowhere to be found, so he spends his first 9 years in an orphanage. He is then transferred into an adult workhouse. After many horrible things befall this poor boy, there is a happy ending with him being adopted and living a great life in the countryside.
