This book came to light when having a clear out of the attic. I'd completely forgotten about it and wasn't even sure it was mine at first! It's been such a long while since I've read it and as I didn't know whether I wanted to keep it or not, there was only one thing to do!

It didn't take too long to read, although I will admit that I skipped some bits that I found a little too gory or scary for my liking so it took about 2 hours to get through approximately ¾ of it. It's completely non-fiction - a matter that could be disputed bearing in mind that the subject is the supernatural and paranormal! As well as dealing with ghosts, vampires, werewolves, the Loch Ness monster and Abominable Snowman, it also covers spontaneous combustion, levitation, mediums, stigmata, Lord Lucan, Mother Shipton and the Bermuda Triangle. Quite a broad range of subjects there!

Because it covers such a wide variety of topics, it's easy to find something of interest and so it will probably appeal to a lot of people. Some of them do seem to be things which have completely disappeared from popular interest such as mediums, and of course Derren Brown hadn't been invented yet. The book was printed in the early 1990s so it's nearly 20 years old and therefore a lot of it is quite dated. It is still an interesting read if you ignore the occasional 'we'll see how true this is in the year 2000/the next century/the future' line.
