6/10 (above average): Competent, but more descriptive than insightful. The final chapter, on Five Perspectives on the Land, is perhaps the best.

Talvez supreenda ao leitor um direcionamento "missionário" num livro sobre as terras da Bíblia. Mas o Senhor mesmo declara que colocou Jerusalém "no meio das nações e terras que estão ao redor delas" (Ez 5.5). De acordo com o cântico de Moisés, quando o Altíssimo distribuía às várias nações sua herança, ele "pôs os termos dos povos conforme ao número dos filhos de Israel" (Dt 32.8). Então permitamos que essa terra em sua singularidade reforce para nós, hoje, a lição das verdades que trazem aos homens a salvação.… (plus d'informations)

Very thorough discussion of the meaning of Israel -- spiritual/ethnic/national -- and its role(s) -- if any -- in biblical end times. I occasionally found the book tough going, but that is more a reflection of the reader than the author. Dr. Robertson's arguments that national Israel does *not* figure in biblical prophecies were, to my mind, a convincing antidote to the premillennial dispensationalism that seems so rampant in this day and age. The chapters on Hebrews 7 and Romans 11 especially rewarded careful reading, and the author's 'Concluding Propositions' were a helpful and clear summary of all that had preceded.… (plus d'informations)
