If someone reviews an author’s book, it goes without saying they must have read the book. However, when it comes to a book like this one, it takes an individual who can understand and appreciate what it takes to write a complete, story, a story with a beginning, middle, and the all-important ending, within the confines of a limited number of words, I believe I would be that person.

Like the author, who has written each of the approximate 500-word, OMR [One Minute Read] stories contained in this book in response to a title prompt given in the writing group he belongs to; I’ve written Flash Fictions, for now, defunct internet website, to a prompt word which had a limitation of on FIVE sentences. It might sound easy, but in reality, it can, at times, become a very demanding challenge, especially when you take the prompt word and use its letters to form an acrostic around which you begin each of the five sentences.

I found each of the stories contained in this book to be quite charming and at times, witty and a sense of being hopeful. It takes an effort to do so effectively and with such brevity, something which Mr. Ritter has to succeed in doing here.
