Fred Ritchin is Professor of Photography and Imaging at New York University. Previously the picture editor of the New York Times Magazine, executive editor of Camera Arts magazine, and founding director of the Photojournalism and Documentary Photography Program at the International Center of afficher plus Photography, Ritchin has written and lectured internationally on media for many years. The author of In Our Own Image: The Coming Revolution in Photography, his essays also have appeared in books such as In Our Time: The World as Seen by Magnum Photographers, Sahel: The End of the Road, and Under Fire: Great Photographers and Writers in Vietnam. Ritchin is also the director of PixelPress (www.pixelpress.org), an organization that works at the intersection of new media, documentary, and human rights, collaborating with humanitarian organizations on campaigns such as the one to end polio globally or to advance the Millennium Development Goals. Dopo la fotografia par Fred Ritchin

È raro trovare libri di teoria fotografica che dicano qualcosa che riesca a uscire dall'asse Benjamin-Barthes-Sontag. Ed è molto difficile scrivere di nuove tecnologie quando in pochi mesi tutto può cambiare. Questo libro si scontra con entrambi questi problemi, uscendone con le ossa abbastanza rotte. L'autore ha le sue responsabilità, scrivendo di cose per lo più già note (e vantandosi a un certo punto di essersi visto rifiutare alcuni articoli perché "troppo avanti") senza riuscire a fornire interpretazioni teoriche inedite. In più l'editore italiano qui ci mette del suo, pubblicando solo nel 2012 un testo del 2008. L'effetto deja-vu è assicurato.

In our time : the world as seen by Magnum p… par William Raymond Manchester

Strong, awesome photography from all over the world. There is nothing bad, I can say about this collection of masterpieces. A must own for all who has an interest in photojournalism.
