If you like a mystery that will make you think, then Through Any Window by Deb Richardson-Moore is a good choice. The novel starts with the crime and then leads the reader through the backstories, relationships, and motives of a collection of characters who certainly could be the murderer. The backdrop of the story is the conflict between those who have gentrified the neighborhood and those who have been residents for decades, including the local homeless shelter. The long hot southern summer and the rape of a young woman escalate the tension and tempers reach a boiling point. I thought the author did a great job of keeping me guessing and turning the pages. I read this book in record time! The social issues discussed, the element of mental illness, and the morally gray areas of crime all contributed to a thinking person’s novel. I enjoyed it very much. Please note there is some language, drinking, and intimate adult scenes in the book — it is marketed towards the general market.

Through Any Window was a twisting journey that fans of mysteries will enjoy.

Murder, Forgotten is a complex murder mystery featuring a best-selling murder mystery author. The premise is great — can or would a mystery author murder someone and get away with it? Or even remember it — Juliana is suffering from some form of dementia. Most of the story is told from the author’s daughter’s POV and has all the second-guessing and mixed feelings you would expect. I had my suspicions from the start, but this book has so many twists and unexpected turns that they often got thrown out the window. The cast of characters are well-developed, you just don’t know whom to trust! 😉 Besides the puzzling mystery, Murder, Forgotten has a wonderful setting — actually two wonderful settings. The rugged coast of Scotland has a short-lived presence, but it made me want to jump on a plane! The warmer beach house setting makes up the bulk of the book and is a powerful presence as it represents the family dynamics.

Murder, Forgotten was all I could hope for in a murder mystery. It’s a great choice for a long weekend read.

The Cantaloupe Thief is Deb Richardson-Moore's debut novel and the first in the Branigan Powers Mystery series. The book is a strong mix of murder mystery and social commentary. The fact that the homeless are often invisible and ignored by society figures strongly in the plot.

Branigan Powers is a journalist in northern Georgia. When she is assigned to investigate a 10-year old cold case murder, she finds herself partnering with a local homeless veteran. Malachi is a suspect in the murder of wealthy widow Alberta Grambling-Resnick, but also the perfect partner to help in the investigation. Powers finds that the homeless are able to move about and investigate more easily than she can, as they are often ignored and therefore, nearly invisible. Resnick was stabbed to death in her home a decade earlier after announcing that she meant to change her will. There are plenty of suspects in the cold case, but Powers finds that the original investigation was slip-shod. The police didn't think to question any of the homeless people who might have had useful information. Just as Powers starts digging and asking questions, someone starts murdering the homeless.

This was an excellent, very suspenseful book!! It is clearly evident that Richardson-Moore is writing from the heart. She is a pastor who works with the homeless. Her caring for the homeless is reflected in her well-written debut novel! The book jumps into the action immediately in the first chapter, and doesn't stop until the very last word. I didn't see the ending coming....very suspenseful, thrilling mystery! Great debut novel! I look forward to the next book in this series.

Author Deb Richardson-Moore weaves a fast-paced and suspenseful tale written in the third person narrative that alternates between Julianna and Logan as they try to uncover the truth behind the death of Julianna's husband, Connor Burke.

I loved reading this intriguing murder mystery. The reader will be easily drawn into this richly descriptive plot that will keep them guessing as family secrets, a growing list of possible suspects, motives, and clues are uncovered. You can't help but feel for Julianna as she struggles with her memory loss, it is so devastating and heartbreaking. I loved how Logan steps in to investigate her step-father's murder, I was kept guessing as the person and reason behind the murder mystery was slowly revealed.

I would be remiss if I didn't mention how much I enjoyed the rich description of the eastern coast of Scotland, and the low country setting of Sullivan's Island, South Carolina. I have property in Calabash, North Carolina, and I have been fortunate enough to know that the beautiful low country locales are truly worth the visit.

Murder, Forgotten has enough drama, tension, action, dark secrets, intrigue, and unexpected twists and turns that will take the reader on one heck of a thrilling roller coaster ride.
