M. E. Mayer

M. E. MAYER is the husband-and-wife team Mary Reed and Eric Mayer. Mary was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne. She worked as a secretary before running the Theology Faculty office at Oxford University. She subsequently emigrated to America, and it was while living in Illinois that she sold her first short story. Six years later she co-wrote the first Death in Byzantium story with her husband. Eric grew up in Pennsylvania and, after going to law school, began work as a technical writer on legal publications by day, while by night he ran a science-fiction fanzine. He also writes comic books, and creates computer games.

M. E. Mayer is a combined pen name for the writing team Mary Reed and Eric Mayer whose 'John the Eunuch' (aka: 'John the Lord Chamberlain') Mysteries have been re-issued in eBook format as the series 'Death in Byzantium.' Another shared pen name is "Eric Reed."
