Favorite Quote(s):
― “My heart’s always been in Wildcat Bluff.”
― “Eden, we’re meant to be together,” he rasped in a voice that conveyed much deeper emotion than mere words. “It’s always been that way. You ran long and hard, but you came back when the time was right.”
― “By the time I’m done, you won’t be able to do without me.”
― “We were a team before you left, and we’re a team now that you’re back. Like a team of horses, sometimes one pulls a little more weight and sometimes the other one does. That’s where we are right now. But in the end, it all evens out.”
Overall Opinion:
Eden is back home in Wildcat Bluff, Texas after losing everything in California: her marriage, career, and just about everything she owes. Eleven years has come and gone, and just before she settles back home she bumps into her childhood sweetheart Shane Taggart. Even after a decade apart, the fire rekindles making Shane wonder why he ever let her leave Wildcat Bluff in the first place. Neither one hadn’t expected their first encounter to be so soon or so intense and that only ignites when they remember how close their ranches are to each other. Still harboring thoughts about that midnight at Lovers Leap, the relationship shifts when someone is setting fires around the ranches.

“Hot For A Cowboy” is the pretty average cowboy second chance romance story. You can easily feel the strong connection between Eden and Shane, making you root for their happily ever after. Their flirtatious and witty banner, sexual tension and their commitment to each other won me over. The characters had the perfect chemistry and the sexual tension was scorching hot. They were a great mesh together and for once I wasn't able to come with any flaws in the leads. What I loved the most about them was loved Shane's teasing ways had always revealed just how much he cared about her.

The overall story was fine and the characters were likable. There was nothing to bragged about and it was pretty much an average romance novel. I did wish there was a little bit more excitement or suspense to really keep me intrigued. Moreover, the romance seemed quick. You'll think after being gone over eleven years and newly divorce, you'll take some time to get reacquainted with your first love before jumping into a new relationship. But to each their own I guess.

With its unique premise and cast of eclectic characters, A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas by Kim Redford is a lovely holiday romance that fans of contemporary western fiction will enjoy. This first installment in the Smokin' Hot Cowboys series features an investigation into a series of fires in the small town of Wildcat Bluff and a sizzling hot love story between Misty Reynolds and Trey Duvall.

Misty does not let her fear of fire stop her from investigating a rash of suspicious fires in Wildcat Bluff. She immediately crosses paths with Trey and she overcomes her phobia long enough to help the sexy volunteer firefighter put out a grass fire and despite her attraction to him, she cannot completely rule him out as the arsonist. Trey is equally drawn to Misty but he quickly senses that she is being less than truthful with him about her reasons for visiting Wildcat Bluff.

A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is a little slow paced with an over-the-top (but somewhat unusual) storyline. Insta-lust quickly turns to insta-love for both Misty and Trey as they investigate the fires. Endearing character traits and Misty's cutesy nickname soon become annoying while the secondary characters are so quirky they comes across as caricatures instead of real people. The weakest part of the storyline is the fire investigation since there is little suspense as to who is responsible for the setting the fires.

Despite these issues, A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is a well-written, light-hearted holiday romance. Kim Redford incorporates factual information into the storyline, which adds to the novel's overall appeal. Wildcat Bluff is a charming, close-knit town with interesting and diverse residents. All in all, it is a nice beginning to the Smokin' Hot Cowboys series that I recommend to fans of the genre.

REVIEW:  A COWBOY FIREFIGHTER FOR CHRISTMAS BY KIM REDFORD

A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas by Kim RedfordMy rating: 4 of 5 starsDon't stand too close to the flames or you will feel the heat. Kim Redford has written a story that is quite intense. Fire plays a central role in this tempting read. An arson investigator and a firefighter are working together to solve a dangerous mystery. Working through personal demons, learning to trust each other and fighting an unexpected attraction. So far so good. Add in serious circumstances, constant twist and great storytelling and you can't miss.My interest in books has taken me in many different directions and introduced me to a number of characters, but Misty was a force onto herself. Having endured so much in her life and still managing to soldier on was a great credit to the character and the author. A Cowboy Firefighter for Christmas is whole new type of holiday read. A little mystery and a lot of heat. Copyright of Night Owl ReviewsView all my reviews
