Dave Ramsey was born in Antioch, Tennessee on September 3, 1960. He graduated from the College of Business Administration at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in 1982. By the time he was 26, he had a net worth of a little over a million dollars and was making $250,000 a year. When the Tax afficher plus Reform Act of 1986 began to have a negative impact on the real estate business, he was forced to file for bankruptcy relief. After losing everything, he went on a quest to find out how money really works, how to get control of it and how to have confidence in handling it. In 1992, he formed The Lampo Group to counsel individuals hurting from the results of financial stress. He wrote the book, Financial Peace, and started a local radio call-in show called The Money Game, now nationally syndicated as The Dave Ramsey Show. His other books include The Money Answer Book: Quick Answers to Everyday Financial Questions, The Total Money Makeover: A Proven Plan for Financial Fitness, Smart Money Smart Kids: Raising the Next Generation to Win with Money, and The Legacy Journey: A Radiacal View of Biblical Wealth and Generosity. He also writes children's books dealing with finance including Careless at the Carnival: Junior Discovers Spending, The Big Birthday Surprise: Junior Discovers Giving, My Fantastic Fieldtrip: Junior Discovers Saving, and Battle of the Chores: Junior Discovers Debt. The Financial Peace Planner: A Step-by-Step Guide… par Dave Ramsey
I liked Dave Ramsey's book about entrepreneurship, so I was wondering what he wrote about the basics of personal finance. For me, this book is a bit too old (those inflation and interest numbers!), basic (I've read lots of books on personal finance already) and American. This felt like the philosophy behind YNAB in book-form. It was a nice quick read, but it taught me nothing I did not know already.
Some stuff is a bit repetitive but I understand why they do it. It's to really drive the concept home and make sure people remember these principles. I really enjoyed this book, I had it for so long, I can't believe it took me forever to read it. Definitely started my Total Money Makeover and I've been telling friends and family about this book as well, especially when someone starts talking about using credit for things. I actually cringe now, anytime someone says they're going to use credit. Definitely worth the read, I can't recommend this book enough. EVERYONE should read it!… (plus d'informations)
Because its a four-step plan, I've read up to and including the step we are on. I'll continue when I'm finished the step.
