A good introduction to how cars work with lots of pictures, and a nice handbook for those wanting to perform their own basic maintenance.

Not thorough enough more my taste. It was really more of an overview. You would not be able to take this book and use it as your sole guide to home-building.

Although this book was useful, it was definitely "an idiot's guide." It was never clear whether the book was intended for people who wanted to personally build a home from scratch or hire a contractor to build the house. There wasn't nearly enough depth for people who wanted to build their own home from scratch and the information about working with a contractor was incomplete.
