Crime scene photographer, Sara Covington has hidden her gift for ten years since running away from CASI where her life had been a living hell. The recent series of murders has left her reeling because they seem to be dragging her back into her past. Detective Brian Roney sees something in Sara that everyone else has missed, and he is determined to use her expertise to help him catch what could be a budding serial killer. While their attraction to one another is impossible to ignore, Brian's best friend, Detective Monica Foudy doesn't trust Sara and isn't sure she should even be on this case.

Behind Blue Eyes is the beginning of a series about CASI - The Colorado Academy for Superior Intellect. The paranormal aspects of this book are handled pretty well, not making any character sound like a superhero or supervillain. The characters are mostly likable, but since the story is told in first person from Sara's POV, the other characters are left underdeveloped. Also, the time jump in each chapter from "Before" to "Now" is a bit jarring, but the reasoning behind it becomes clear as the narrative moves forward. Once the plot moves beyond the initial set up, it becomes a little over the top by the end. Overall, however, Behind Blue Eyes is a solid romantic suspense novel with paranormal elements.

This is a short book, but per the author that is what the publisher wanted. I generally don't give novellas novella more then 3 stars, but this was a very touching and positive little read - I would have loved for it to be longer.
Its the story of an older women and younger man, a story about finding love, finding yourself, and accepting that life can be good when change threatens all that you have known.
The lead character Cassidy and Scott were likeable, and had enough development to make the story work.
The erotic side of the story was more via feelings and innuendo, as the sex was complementary to the story line, not in your face, crude or crass. I was very happy how Scott found himself, his purpose in this story, he didn't give up, and how supportive Cassi was to this end as well.
Long story short Cassidy and Scott helped each other, and both grew as a result of their meeting.

I was given this book by the author as an ARC for an honest review

This was one of those free downloads from Kindle that you have no really idea of whether you will read it or when. Luckily one of my book club reading groups has a fireman story category and this fit right in.

It is shorter than I would've liked but good for an erotic paranormal romance. I thought there was enough of an attraction and romance built for the sex to be steamy. The story line, although short and not well developed, was enough to make it interesting. I think the story line may be further developed in subsequent short stories. Currently there are 3 more at a little over 80 pages a piece. I'm glad I read it as I enjoyed it and will problem continue with the next ones in the series.… (plus d'informations)
