Rhyming verse is really cute at first, and fitting for a children's book, but the cadence starts to falter about half way through. Still, a decent read and a topic that kids will likely love.

It's a short, sweet, and excellent rhyming adventure about a boy and his pet dragon. This is an enjoyable and creative look at what could happen if you had a dragon for a pet. The illustrations and artwork are very well done. I think the artwork is one of my favorite things about this story and all the illustrations really help tell the story and bring it to life. The story was cute, but it felt really similar to Jane Yolen's books about dinosaurs, and the cadence of the language wasn't quite a smooth for reading aloud as the books I really love and reach for again and again.
We would check this out from the library and read it, but we probably wouldn't buy it.

Adorable children's book with fun rhymes for kids learning to read or following along with an adult reader. Love the illustrations and the story arc. One or two rhymes tripped me up as far as rhythm goes, but otherwise a fun choice for dragon lovers!
