After having read American Caesar and gotten a bird's eye view of the war this book was a great contrast. This book was written by a lieutentant assigned to a Washington national guard unit that was attached to the 25th Infantry Division. The book provides a valuable view from the ground giving the readers sense of what it was like in the mud. This well-written memoir gives us a sense of the indignities that are suffered by the grunts at the hands of sometimes incompetent and arrogant officers. Reading this book I reflect on how lucky I am to have a warm bed, warm food, and a bath room. It is amazing what the infantry in are forced to endure.… (plus d'informations)
