Although this book reads like a novel I was amazed at the organizational skills Rachlin obviously has to have been able to put such an incredibly detailed time line together from so many different points of view---an absolutely fascinating story, and horrific all at the same time. Twenty-four years gone--stolen! And that's to say nothing of the efforts of SO many people to try and help along the way---but who kept getting stopped, over and over and over. It's a frightening story in many ways but mostly if you are a person of color in this country—still, day after day, year after year. You're in trouble for just being the skin color you are---a punishment from the outside from the moment you are born. How, how, how do we get rid of this horrible, horrible way people are treated? I was cheered up until the very last couple of sentences in the book---the danger just doesn't stop. Rachlin says that it took him four years to write this book---I'm amazed that it didn't take MUCH longer!!!! It's a wonderful, engrossing book--hard to put down---even though the sum total of it breaks my heart.… (plus d'informations)
