A picture-book debut for British author Ruth Quayle, That Bear Can't Babysit is a sweet little tale, one featuring a goodhearted ursine hero whose seeming naivety, when it comes to his cheeky charges, is belied by his ability to get them to behave as they should, by involving them in a game of make-believe. The artwork by Alison Friend, who also illustrated Phyllis Root's Scrawny Cat, is quite winsome, capturing the charm of both bunnies and bear.
