Courte biographie
Princess Viktoria was the daughter of German Emperor Frederick III and his wife Victoria, née Princess Royal of England. She was known in the family as Moretta or Young Vicky. Her first husband was Prince Adolf of Schaumburg-Lippe, who died in 1916. In 1927, against the wishes of her family, she married as her second husband Alexander Zoubkoff, a Russian émigré 35 years her junior who pretended to be a nobleman. The marriage soon broke up, and Princess Viktoria, short of funds, published her memoirs shortly before her death.

Critiques

Excellent first-hand account of life at Balmoral. Queen Victoria figures prominently. Letters describe amusements, terrific heat wave, train travel, primitive train air conditioning by storing tubs of ice under beds.
