A meteor hits the earth, landing in France. By the seventh day, the first report of one person had been infected and by the end of the year, 2 billion people died and 5 billion people were infected. It's day 915 and the story introduces John as an infected and Carrie as a survivor. The story is extremely descriptive and the only dialogue featured is Carrie's as the infected cannot speak. There are various characters' perspectives but the story predominantly follows Carrie's journey. John and Carrie learn to work together to survive, despite risking Carrie's life.

The story takes place from November 13 to May 4, following three characters: Paul's career as a detective, Nicole's adjustment after she discovers she can see moving images in photos, and Carl's involvement as a reporter. Paul encounters Nicole and when he discovers how real and useful her ability is, Paul wants Nicole to help with a case he's currently investigating because they are at a standstill. It's a good concept and the story is for mature readers, featuring a lot of profanity and released anger. The story revolves around the characters' emotional state and their interaction.
