Dog on a Digger par Kate Prendergast
Very nicely done wordless picture book with a really sweet story of friendship.
Similar to other books I have reviewed, this book does not have any words. I really believe that wordless books are very beneficial to young children, especially those who cannot read yet. For readers and non readers, books like these encourage readers to use their imagination as they read the books. This book was engaging. I flipped through the book so quickly eager to see the next page.
I loved the pictures in this book! It features Dog who takes his "job' at the construction site seriously. He rides in the excavator and is the dog-around-the-construction site. One day the canteen lady's puppy is missing. Can Dog find her? The illustrations move this story to its sweet conclusion!

A wordless picture book rendered in pencil, with blue and yellow to highlight important objects and characters (safety vests, the digger itself, the sound of the dogs barking). A man and his dog wake up and get to work. They take their lunch break and chat with the woman at the snack bar and her dog. When her dog wanders off, the man's dog finds it and figures out how to rescue it - then stops it from running off again. The events are easy to follow even without words, and there's plenty here to talk about with young readers - whether they're more focused on the dog or the digger.
