Rachel Raccoon and Sammy Skunk are going out to enjoy a walk. Rachel decides to take Sammy for a stroll through a beautiful prairie. Rachel teaches Sammy that prairies have many types of grasses and wild flowers. In the Midwest, several inches of rainfall make most of the grasses and wild flowers grow very tall.

Big Bluestem is a grass that is bluish-purple and grows very tall in the prairie and is the most common type of prairie plant. The Prairie Cone flower is a yellow wild flower that has a cone-shaped center. The Obedient plant is a light pink plant that is a type of mint. Rachel and Sammy love learning about the prairie.

Powelson's exquisite photography makes teaching young readers about the prairie fun. Vivid pictures along with detailed descriptions about each plant easy to remember. Parents and teachers will find this a handy tool for any classroom or home.
