Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the chance to read and review Eclipse by Wilder Poetry.

This is the second Wilder Poetry book I’ve read, the first being Golden (also via NetGalley). While I wasn’t a fan of Golden, I’m a sucker for a pretty poetry book, and Eclipse is just that.

Unfortunately, and perhaps fortunately, that is all Eclipse is. The illustrations are gorgeous and you just like the vibe of the book; does the poetry have any actual substance to it; absolutely…not.

There is definitely a crowd for Eclipse, and it’s the kind of book I’d want to be on my bookshelf just because it’s so pretty.

Thank you NetGalley and Andrews McMeel Publishing for the chance to read and review this book.

Wilder Poetry sounded familiar and so I went ahead and checked my goodreads to find that I had read Nocturnal in 2020 via scribd.

I'm very sure that Golden has an audience and fans of Wilder Poetry will love it. The illustrations were all very well done. As a whole, I'm not a huge fan, but there is definitely a good audience for this that will.

because the wild showed her
it was okay to be free.”

These poems are so beautiful! They were melodic and emotional and the images paired with the poems just made it all the more beautiful. However, there were moments that did seem to get a little repetitive to me as the writer used the same imagery multiple times. One example of this is hands. There are multiple examples of hands holding, or grasping. The first few poems with it struck me as lovely and deep but then the later ones unimpressive.… (plus d'informations)

It's visually stunning, with the black and white pages and illustrations! But that's it on the positive side, unfortunately.
I like some minimalistic style poetry that has become popular after "milk and honey", but this collection felt like words put together that made sense, but didn't convey any meaning. It feels like artsy instagram/tumblr captions. And I want more out of poetry than that. If you use this few words, it's expected that you put a lot of thought into making it as elegant or emotion-provoking as possible, which this had little of.

I received a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you!
