The Encyclopedia of Horses and Ponies covers all the basic information that new horse owners need. It discusses everything from what to consider before you buy a horse to the history of the horse. There are also chapters on anatomy, management, health, breeding, tack, riding, and training. There are two or more pictures on every page and countless diagrams to illustrate points covered. The second half of the book gives one page summaries on over 200 breeds. Symbols tell temperament, and use of each horse while short paragraphs and pictures tell the basic history and appearance. The use of in text tools makes this book easy to read. Although the information is relatively basic, this book provides a great overview of horse ownership and breeds but is not for the a reader with more advanced knowledge of the horse. This book is aimed towards younger readers with an average reading level of about 8.5. If you are new to the world of horses, defiently check this book our for a good intro; however if you need advanced or more in depth info on a specific aspect of the horse, this is not the place to find it.… (plus d'informations)
