Philipp P. Fehl (1920–2000)

A little life-story in Fehl's charactteristic capricci, very dear, but ending as all such stories must. Extremely rare. Only a few dozen copies were made. The artist hand-drew all the pictures (i.e multiple times), the designer hand-set the type, printed the pages on letter-press, and cloth-bound the books himself. In the few occasions when I have found copies, the owners have been generally unaware of these fascinating details behind the physical production of the work

As a contributor to this book, and as a friend of the Author, I am reluctant to review this work before more serious thought. Suffice it to say that it is a little jewel, in its own right, and as the final gem in that crown of humanistic scholarship which Philipp Fehl created over a career of several decades. There are no words to describe the thousand graces and plain hard work contributed by Raina Fehl in the preparation of this volume after the Author'sdeath in September 2000.
