I really wanted to like this book. The writing was fun and the main characters were hilarious. Then we got to the main foil who had all the anti-semetic tropes. There was no need for the greedy businessman to have a Jewish name and look. I tried to persevere. I even flipped ahead to see if it got better. It didn't. I emailed the publisher and reached out on the author's website to gently request a redo to genericize the character. No response. I have DNFed this book and am disappointed because it would have otherwise been a lovely read.… (plus d'informations)

Ruby Jane (RJ) and Lavinia (Veenie) are two retired senior citizens who are embarking on new careers as detectives in training with the Shady Hoosier Detective Agency in Pawpaw County, Indiana. When they are hired by an old farmer named Dode to investigate the supposed haunting of the old broken-down mansion on the property next to his, cue the hijinks.

At first, I will admit, I was put off by all the over the top descriptions of the characters, their actions, and their dialogue, but by the second half of the book it didn't bother me too much. Once you get past all that, it's easy to enjoy the situations these people get themselves into. From ghosts to buried treasure, it's quite a romp.

All told, I'm giving this book 4/5 stars because it was a quick read and had a fun plot.

I received a copy of this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Two senior citizens are hired to get rid of ghosts in the house across the road. Antics ensue and colorful characters seem to come from out of the blue but alas all is well by the end of the book.

Another humorous adventure with the elderly PI Hoosiers!

Chickenlandia Mystery by Daisy Pettles is book three is the crazy adventures of the elderly PI Hoosiers. These books are witty, have colorful characters, plenty of unpredictable situations, a dialect all its own, terrific plot, and fun world building! I always get a lot of giggles, smiles, and a few real laugh out loud moments in each book! I love these characters!
