Another selection for my work's book club. And, its one of those books that has the potential to be good -really really good. Unfortunately, the author didn't have enough material for a full book, so introduced random factoids - such as the founder of Ikea is from the same place in Sweden as the Lindquist's ancestors. Or that hotpot is traditionally a winter dinner in Japan. Or, that Korean and Japanese language are completely different than Chinese... it goes on and on.

As for the main character Young Nam/Noah - I think there is a bit of wish fullfillment from the author when he wrote this character. It seems like Noah manages to not only succeed at life, but ends up in the top tier. Top tier in the military, top tier executive. Also, him having a driver to take him to see his mother was a bit excessive...

I also wish there was more of Young Nam/Noah's day to day life. Specifically, direct interactions with his neighbors when he lived in Korea, and than his initial months and years with his adopted family, the Lindquists.

Overall, I'm glad I read it. I learned quite a bit about American Policy on the children of American soldiers born to foreign mothers. I'd like to know how this policy has changed.
