Courte biographie
Thomas Pavitte, born in New Zealand, is a graphic designer and experimental artist who often uses simple techniques to create highly complex pieces, and whose dot-to-dot pieces have been enjoyed by people all over the world. He set an unofficial record for the most complex dot-to-dot drawing in 2011 with his version of the Mona Lisa, in 6,239 numbered dots, which took him weeks to prepare and nine hours to complete. He lives and works in Melbourne, Australia.

Looks fun and intriguing. I can't wait to try completing one of the intricate, quirky portraits in this book. Just the right fine-tip marker, a ruler, a magnifying glass, and lots of patience will be needed. I'm no artist, but feel encouraged to give it a try because of advice in the intro that says "don't worry if you make a mistake by connecting the wrong numbers. It won't ruin the final outcome. Just carefully carry on." The book includes a partially completed practice-page at the beginning and a mark-up of the completed drawings at the end. Each of the twenty 20"x14" images consists of hundreds of finely numbered dots. Numbers are so small and printed so lightly, they are hardly visible from a distance. They're color-coded to help you keep track of your position, but even locating dot #1 might be a challenge. Portraits are of famous pop-culture personalities such as Alfred Hitchcock, Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Einstein, JFK, Bob Marley and Andy Warhol. Apparently there are other books in this series; like the ones on animals, city-scapes, and reproductions of classical paintings. List price is $14.96 but discounted at Sam's Club.… (plus d'informations)
