History of the Lombards par the Deacon Paul
I read an 1907 translation by William Dudley Foulke. A spotty book, certainly not up to the standards of Niketas Choniates, or Froissart, but it's what we have to cover Italy from 560 to about 800. Paul was earnest, but there's so much we wish him to have covered. Well, I'll have to get back to work on the Chrono-mobile!
½Very difficult for anyone to ascertain the truth about that period and those people, as what little writing is available to us from the remote period is often written in a self-serving manner.
