Jacqueline Pascarl

Stel je voor: je wordt tot over je oren verliefd op een
Maleisische prins, trouwt met hem, maar ziet het
sprookje door een onfortuinlijke scheiding omslaan
in een nachtmerrie.
Dit is wat Jacqueline Pascarl is overkomen. Haar exechtgenoot
ontnam haar haar twee kinderen. In een
poging haar persoonlijk drama te vergeten stortte ze
zich in haar werk. Ze werd ambassadeur voor de
stichting Care International, en reisde af naar onder
meer Bosnië, Kosovo en Oost-Timor om kinderen
in moeilijke situaties bij te staan. Maar nog altijd was
er geen enkel bericht over haar eigen kinderen…
Pas in maart 2006 – Jacqueline heeft haar kinderen
veertien jaar niet gezien – ontvangt ze eindelijk het
nieuws waarop ze al jaren wacht. Ooit was ik een

die haar leven in het teken heeft gesteld van het helpen
van kinderen in noodsituaties, tot ze haar eigen

I was intrigued to read the story of the abduction of Jacqueline Pascarl's children. However, I found that there wasn't much in the book about the abduction or the author's children. The reason for this became clear. The children were abducted at the beginning of her story and then she didn't hear from them for 14 years at which time she was re-united with them at the end of the story. The bulk of the book is about the author's life during those 14 years, which was only mildly interesting to me. I did appreciate the way she managed to carry on as best she could and help others along the way at the same time. But if you enjoy affliction memoirs as I do, this one might disappoint.… (plus d'informations)
