Chick-Lit:

Light & entertaining... some parts even interesting....

I finished it, but I skimmed a whole lot of it.....

Liz is Ted's ex-wife. Brandi ( ♥ dotted i) is his widow: Ted screw's them all by leaving EVERYTHING, including the PR firm that Liz made successful to Liz...

Catch? Liz has to work w/ Brandi, who of course uses sex to get almost everything she wants....

This interferes w/ Liz's passion her bakery (There is No Cake in her bakery...so where the hell the title came from I have no clue). She bakes breads to die for, but she & the bakery are in a slump....

Ted's stupidity turns out to be exactly what Liz needs to get her passion stoked up again & her bakery back to where she wants it to be

Yes, of course there is romance, but that is well written in & not the main point, but a solid pushing forward point.

It is down 1 ★ because I had to skim so much of the beginning fluff....

*Book source ~ Many thanks to Untreed Reads for providing a review copy in exchange for an honest review.

Meghan O’Neill was born with a strawberry birthmark on her cheek. In the 1500s this was considered by some to mean she is marked by Satan while others thought it meant the person was the product of fairies. Raised by her nurse, Una, Meghan has been sheltered from people, hiding her mark to keep from being killed. The morning she saves the life of handsome Revelin Butler her whole life changes when she falls in love.

Set in Ireland in the 1500s this story has a lot of the English/Irish history and bloodshed. Since I have no interest in history I was pretty lost for all of the history talk. The story of Meghan interested me much more and she was an appealing character even if she put up with Revelin’s bullshit. Revelin, on the other hand, I didn’t like very much. He took Meghan’s virginity even while he still planned to wed another woman. Then he just cast Meghan aside. Yeah, I thought she could do much better than him. He redeemed himself a bit by the end, but I still don’t like him. If you like history then this is a good book to read. All-in-all it’s not a bad story and I enjoyed the folklore.

Usborne Fairy Tales for Little Children. London [England]: Usborne Publishing, 2008. Print.

This is a wonderful collection of 5 classic fairy tales, from "Little Red Riding Hood" to "Goldilocks and the Three Bears". A majority of them are originally by The Brothers Grimm. "Usborne Fairy Tales for Little Children" has been retold mostly by author, Susanna Davidson, who has updated the stories using modern language. Each tale is illustrated in a different comical style that children will undoubtedly enjoy. This would be suitable for the ages of about 4 to 7.… (plus d'informations)

A lawyer shows up on Michaela's grandmother's island with $100,000 for her from a man she barely knows. Michaela wants to know why, so she goes to see him and ends up rescuing him from a killer.

I enjoyed this story. It was well-written and I stayed interested through the whole book.
