For their simple mechanics, these pop-ups are successful and lots of fun. Paris's art is busy enough and she uses multiple layers AND the reverse of the stand-up card to help tell the whole story.

Robert Sabuda popularized the "white paper" pop-up and no wonder, the use of plain white paper really lets the paper engineering take the forefront. This pop-up book uses that same technique using only background colors and touches of gold to bring these images to life. The lovely old Christmas carol, "The First Noel" is beautifully imagined and created here. My favorite pop-up is the final spread of the infant Savior in His manger unfolding with His arms outstretched.
