The Court Jester par Melvin Frank
Mixed feelings about this movie. Wonderful cast and acting. Great cinematography and fun costume design. As for the story and choreography and singing: The scene in the woods early on with the bandits is beautifully choreographed. Then there are long scenes of singing or drawn-out jokes / situations, that are painfully long to sit through. Early in the movie, the scenes in the castle with the royalty is strong theatre-style acting.

The Court Jester [DVD] [1956] par Danny Kaye
I loved this film, years ago, when I saw it on television with my father. So I was delighted when it finally came out on DVD. This film shows Danny Kaye at his best, as the naive court jester, caught up in a dastardly plot.

There are some classic moments, such as the 'flagon with the dragon' and the 'chalice from the palace', and also the speeded-up knight-making process.

Very enjoyable if you don't mind silliness and some slapstick, with innuendoes which I'm sure I didn't notice as a child.… (plus d'informations)

A jester infiltrates the castle of an evil king.

3/4 (Good).

Goofy fun. The songs, except when there are jokes, are bad. But just about everything else about this movie is weirdly good.
