This rhyming book takes you on a musical journey from New York all the way to New Orleans. Starting in New York we meet a saxophone man, in Philadelphia a drummer, in Chicago a bass player, and finally a singer in St. Louis. After all are on board the train to New Orleans, they continue to play. Once there, they play in the streets and everyone falls in love. These once single artist and musicians are now together and forming a band. Just as fast as they arrive in New Orleans, they leave again back on the train. This train is heard and is "some sight to see- a movin', groovin', razzin', jazzin' American jazz symphony!"

I really enjoyed the illustrations and flow of the rhyme in this book. I thought that they were both crucial to the jazz essence that was captured in this book. I also enjoyed how the book talked about each individual artist and then had them come together to form a band.
