True stories of travel into the hidden territories of the human spirit and heart.
A Journey with Mother Ayehuasca
I found this book to be a brutally honest look at the author's decision to go to Peru and participate in an Ayehuasca ceremony. I especially enjoyed looking through his intellectual eyes.
Jim O'Reilly, the author, is an apparently well balanced man with an above average intelligence. He and his friend, Dec, decide to go to Peru to journey with the Shaman's of the Shipibo tradition.
Jim researches the Ayehuasca ceremony and has previous experiences with mind-altering substances such as marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. He feels both psychologically and physically prepared.
From the beginning of their initiation into the Shamanic ceremony, both young Irish lads quickly understand that they have severely underestimated the power of Amazon Plant Medicine.

Good anecdotal book for folks considering either moving or visiting Thailand as it touches on a lot cultural differences and good advice can be gleened from it.
Good true short stories for light reading, like on a trip. I found some of these more interesting than others and suspect others will have somewhat different favorites.
