This book gave a great insight into what school was like for children who are Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing. Since I'm HoH myself, I was able to relate to a lot of the different stories that other people wrote. The author weaves different stories of other Deaf/HoH individuals who talk about their social and educational experiences. It's an interesting book and a definite read for those who are or know someone who is Deaf/HoH or going into teaching. Whether or not you decide on Deaf education or general education, the points made in Alone in the Mainstream were definite eye openers.
