Mrs. Soffel par Gillian Armstrong
2024 movie #49. 1984. Gibson is on death row in a 1901 prison. The prison warden's wife, Mrs Soffel (Keaton) falls for him and helps him escape. Apparently based on a true story. A movie desperately in need of some emotional spark, Keaton and Gibson had no chemistry.
My reading group decided to read the book and then watch the film to compare and contrast. I enjoyed both and although in many ways the film follows the book plot line, it deviates in significant ways too. The film changes the whole thrust of the book by making it a romance which I can understand - I don't think many people would watch a film where the thread of the book was actually followed. Interesting to compare and contrast and my group ended up having quite an in depth discussion of both formats.… (plus d'informations)
