Any excuse to follow a dirt path in the Oregon countryside is a good one. Larry does a great job of retracing some of these pioneer roads , providing maps and matching them with some written historical sources.
He had no editor (that I can reckon), and there was no grant to produce these volumes ("Roads of Yesterday" is the third in a series.) This is a self-published labor of love, and I think we owe a debt of gratitude to some of the local authors who shared their passion and research with us by publishing their work themselves.
The books are nicely illustrated with lots of BxW photographs and all that I've seen have great color covers, usually of Larry standing "in the ruts of the wagon wheels" somewhere.… (plus d'informations)
