This book is based on Phillippians 4:8 and the concept that if you follow the Principle it will cause you to focus on God and goodness and be able to strengthen your mind which will increase your potential for joy.

To get you to that goal the book lays out exercises and coaching activities to get you on your journey toward more JOY in your life. These steps include controlling your thoughts, controlling your emotions, forgiving others and yourself, understanding how you view yourself (self-ideal, self-image, self-worth), developing a heart of gratitude, and how to create your own mission statement to keep you on track during your journey.

This is not a book you just read but meditate on, work on the exercises, and use as a guide for self-growth and building a better relationship with God that will bring you more chances for joy.

This book was selected as a book discussion for college students helping them deal with emotions and self-worth. It made a good supplement after reading BATTLEFIELD OF THE MIND by Joyce Meyer which dealt with controlling your mind to control your habits to control your actions.

It works.
However, folks should know that there is a Biblical theme that runs throughout this book. If that's going to be a problem for you, you probably should avoid it.
Not a preachy book. Simple, daily exercises that help with perspective and prioritizing.

I really enjoyed this. My grandfather used to tell me, "what gets your attention, gets you." This is the study of that truth. Building on the Philippians 4:8 passage that encourages us to think on the right things, the author helps us take control of our thoughts. Inspirational and informational.
